The Ontario Champion Sault Ste. Marie North Stars Announce their 2007-2008 Tryout, League and Tournament Schedule

The North Stars would like to thank all of their fans for supporting them over the years and are happy to announce that all of last year's staff are returning for another great season of midget hockey in the Great North Midget League.

Long time, successful head coach Mike Hall is returning with well-seasoned assistant coaches Carlo DiCandia and Eddy Fenos, who also works as the goaltender coach, will try for their 5th consecutive Great North Midget League/NOHA Championship.

Returning at their posts as a pair of the most dedicated trainers in the Great North Midget League are Bid Caverly and Mark Mitchell. George Parsons will be returning as the General Manager.

The Great North Midget League will have a little different look this year with eight teams, down one from previous years.

The Valley East Cobras were granted a one-year leave of absence as a trial. They will now amalgamate with the Rayside-Balfour Sabrecats to form one team. The team will be known as the Nickel City Sons Hockey Club. The Sudbury area will now be down to two teams next year the Sudbury Nickel City Wolves and the new Nickel City Sons hockey teams. It should be an interesting year and the Sudbury teams should be stronger with one less team.

The North Stars would like to invite all midget age players wishing to tryout for the 2007-2008 edition of the Sault Ste. Marie North Stars.

For any players outside of the Sault Major Hockey Association District (City of Sault Ste. Marie) you MUST present a fully signed "Permission to Skate/Release Form" from your local hockey association before you will be allowed on the ice for tryouts.

The 2007-2008 tryouts will be held:

Monday August 27, 5-7pm, John Rhodes Arena Rink # 1 Tuesday August 28, 5-7pm, John Rhodes Arena Rink # 1 Wednesday August 29, 5-7pm, John Rhodes Arena Rink # 1 Tuesday September 4, 5-7pm, John Rhodes Arena Rink # 2

The North Stars open up on the road this year in Kapuskasing with a pair of games Saturday September 8 and Sunday September 9. The Stars don't open up at home until a pair of games against Kirkland Lake, Saturday September 29 and Sunday September 30.

Please note that some weekends at home this year will have different start times. Local hockey fans can get lots of AAA hockey in the same arena this year with the Soo Thunder playing before and after us on four different weekends this year. Please have a look at the Full Season Schedule.
