The Soo North Stars won their ninth game in nine outings on Saturday night to take over sole possession of first place in the Great North Midget League.

After falling behind 1-0, the North Stars scored three times in the second period to take a 4-2 win over the Sudbury Nickel Capitals at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The same two teams will meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Rhodes.

Derrek Coccimiglio scored once and set up another for the North Stars while single goals went to Tyler Liukkonen, Adam Pyymaki and Brett Perlini. Dan Vernelli picked up a pair of assists while Ryan Dube recorded the win in goal.
