Mosquito Black Sox cap off undefeated season

The Sports Gold Mosquito Black Sox added a cherry to their undefeated regular season by capturing the Pee Wee house league playoff championship with a 9-7 victory over a very tough Sal-Dan team.

The Sports Gold Mosquito Black Sox added a cherry to their undefeated regular season by capturing the Pee Wee house league playoff championship with a 9-7 victory over a very tough Sal-Dan team.

The Mosquito Sox who are 9 to 11 year-olds went through the regular season 17-0 playing against players 2 years older.

In the playoffs, the Sports Gold Mosquito's never let up going 3-0 in the round robin as well as winning their semi-final game.

In the final game, Cody Yardanoff, Eric Thornton and Coty Anderson combined for the victory. Travis Quevillon had the hot bat with an in the park home run clearing the loaded bases.

Other members of the championship team are Owen Headrick, Justin Orr, Erik Paradis, Matt Goodall, Jarret Miller and Aaron Savage.

The 2007 Mosquito Selects have made the history books by being the first team to go undefeated for the regular season and playoffs.

The Sports Gold Mosquito Black Sox will play a doubleheader in Sudbury this weekend and then practice over the next 2 1/2 weeks in preparation for the Ontario Baseball Championships to be held Labour Day weekend in Sarnia.
