Monday's Mayor's Cup results

The Mayor's Cup men's hockey playoffs opened on Monday night with a par of games at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

In the opener, Tim Burton scored once and set up another to help pace Stitch King/Weedman to a 2-1 win over Mr. Transmission in 33-and-over division. Mike Johnson added a goal for Stitch King/Weedman while Richard Rossett replied for Mr. Transmission.

In the open division, Chris Miller and Lane Burton scored two goals each to lead Assante Capital/Mr. Transmission past McDougall Fuels 5-2.

Andy Lesyshen also scored for the winners while Trevor Thorburn replied with both goals in a losing cause and Greg McLean recorded a pair of assists.
