The Mid Canada Construction Midget AA Wildcats competed in the Provincial Championships this past weekend in Mississauga.

With 22 teams from around the Province playing for gold, they opened their weekend of play in round robin format against Thunder Bay Queens 11:15 am Friday at the Iceland Arena. The Wildcats out chanced their opponents in close game but were defeated 2-1. Katie Komsa scored the goal with assists from Sarah McCulloch and Jordana Sacco.

The Wildcats played Sarnia Jr Lady Sting at 4:30 Friday. With a close checking game both ways, The Wildcats faced a challenging goaltender and lost 3-1 with Laura Duguay providing the offense with assists from Morgan Tersigni and Megan Parlowe.

Saturday morning's 8:00 am game was against the Clearview Ice Cats. Again the Wildcats out chanced the Ice Cats to find themselves battling for the tying goal in the final minutes. With Dana Desaulnier pulled in favor of an extra attacker, the Mid Canada Construction Wildcats saw shot after shot stopped by the Ice Cat goaltender to be dealt a heart-breaking 2-1 loss. Brianne Veale scored the lone goal for the Wildcats with Shannon MacInnis and Jenna Buck assisting.

This years Midget AA Wildcat team competed in Under-19 AAA tournaments in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and New York. and Southern Ontario this season playing at very competitive levels.

As a result of the teams hard work this year Derelise Mills, Cassie MacFarlane and Andrea Brunetta have been invited to 2007 Women's Elite Prospects Tournament this week, and 9 out of the 13 players have been approached for post-Wildcat hockey opportunities with US and Canadian Universities, and College Preparation schools.

We wish all these players the best in their hockey and educational endeavors.

The Wildcats are holding their tryouts for the 2007 – 2008 season this upcoming weekend.
