The Soo Midget Black Sox opened up their current tournament in Thunder Bay on Friday with a 3-1 victory over the Thunder Bay Mountain Jacks.

The Soo Midget Black Sox opened up their current tournament in Thunder Bay on Friday with a 3-1 victory over the Thunder Bay Mountain Jacks.

Chris Buonomo picked up the win pitching into the sixth inning while giving up five hits, and three walks and striking out four. Andrew Toni picked up the save after relieving Buonomo in the sixth and not giving up a run in two innings of work.

Nick Moon homered in the bottom of the first to get the ball rolling for the Black Sox and also picked up runs in the second and third innings for the win. The lone Thunder Bay run came in the second inning.

The Black Sox continue with a pair of games on Saturday as they face the Thunder Bay Titans at 2 p.m. and then face Ham Lake Legion from Minnesota at 4:30 p.m. Round Robin action will continue into Sunday morning before the top two teams face off in the championship at 1:30 p.m.
