Micky Sartoretto has been given a chance to take his game to a new level.

On Saturday afternoon at the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection draft conducted via the Internet, Sartoretto was taken in the seventh round at 123rd overall by the Kitchener Rangers.

Sartoretto became the second local player selected in the draft, following teammate Brett Thompson, who went to the Sudbury Wolves in the fourth round.

The 6-foot-1, 160 pound right winger finished this past season with one of Canada's best midget hockey teams in the Soo North Stars.

Sartoretto scored nine goals and added 21 assists in 33 Great North Midget League regular season games for the North Stars. In the playoffs, Sartoretto scored four times and added seven assists before notching three goals and eight points at the Telus Cup Regional Championships in Waterloo, where the North Stars won gold.

At the Telup Cup National Midget Hockey Championships in Red Deer, Alberta, Sartoretto led the team in scoring with a pair of assists.
