The second night of semi-finals is in the books at the Mayor's Cup and the finalists have been determined for Saturday night.

After Stitch King/Weedman of the 33+ Division and Assante/Mr. Transmission of the Open Division earned championship berths on Thursday, their opponents were determined on Friday night.

In the 33+ Division Mr. Transmission used a pair of third period goals five minutes apart to earn a championship berth with a 3-1 victory over Tulloch Engineering. Tulloch Engineering entered the game with a 3-1-0-1 record in the tournament while Mr. Transmission held a 2-2-1-0 record.

Mr. Transmission opened the scoring in the first period when Rick Evans converted an opportunity just under five minutes into the frame, a goal that would hold up into the third period. With the 1-0 lead, Mr. Transmission held the lead throughout a scoreless second period and early into the third period.

In the third period, Ron Sartor turned an opportunity into a 2-0 lead for Mr. Transmission at 2:13. A goal by Mark Pavoni cut the lead in half and pulled Tulloch back into the game but Al Carriere sealed the 3-1 victory 1:01 after Pavoni cut into the lead.

The victory sends Mr. Transmission into Saturday night's 33+ Division final against the undefeated Stitch King/Weedman squad. Game time on Saturday is 8 p.m. at the Pee Wee Arena.

In the second Open Division semi-final, Foggy Notions defeated the Soo Kings by a 5-4 scored to earn a championship appearance.

The Kings got on the board in the first period as Brett Maguire scored midway through the period.

The goal held up until a Foggy Notions offensive outburst in the second period. After Frank Proco tied the scored midway through the period to tie the score, Porco and Terry Chikoski scored just over one minute apart to give Fogy Notions a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.

Kevin MacKay increased the Foggy Notions lead to 4-1 early in the third, only to see Rob Palanuk cut into the lead a short time later. MacKay gave Foggy Notions a 5-2 lead, which was much needed as Jeff Green and Gary Armstrong, in the final minute, cut the lead to one goal. The late rally by the Kings was not strong enough as Foggy Notions held on for the 5-4 victory.

The win sends Foggy Notions into the Open Division final against Assante/Mr. Transmission, who upset Clarica/Blueliners in Thursday night's semi-final. Game time for the Open Division final is at 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, immediately following the 33+ Division final.
