The Mayor's Cup continued at the Soo Pee Wee Arena on Thursday night as both the Over-33 and Open Divisions saw action on the night. In the early game of the night, Mr. Transmission improved their record to 2-0 in the Over-33 by knocking off Electronic Universe 6-2.

The setback was the second of the young tournament for Electronic Universe, who dropped a 7-0 decision to Tulloch Engineering on the opening day of action. Mr. Transmission beat Blueliners/Microage for their first win.

In the win, Mr. Transmission picked up a solid performance from Chris Bruni who scored twice. Ron Sartor, who also picked up an assist, Mark Patallia, Roger Rosset, and Romano Carlucci also scored for Mr. Transmission. Eric Hicks picked up three assists.

Matt Sizer recorded a goal and an assist in the loss for Electronic Universe while Barry Bissonnette added the other goal.

In the Open Division, the Blueliners Bulls fought off a late charge to hand A.J. Bus Lines a 6-4 setback as a late goal clinched the win for the now 2-0 Bulls.

Mark Losa led the way offensively for the Bulls with three goals and two assists in the win. Current Soo Greyhounds assistant coach Denny Lambert chipped in for Blueliners with two goals and two assists while Richard Bishop scored the other goal. Al Dipasqua added two assists.

Adam Dunseath, Greg Mizzi with an assist, Joe Greco and Curtis Cress scored in the loss.

Action in the tournament continues on Friday night with three games on tap at the Pee Wee Arena. In the Over-33 Division, Stitch King/Weedman takes on Blueliners/Microage at 7 p.m.

The night will cap off with two games in the Open Division beginning at 8:30 p.m. with the Soo Kings, who feature former Greyhound Brad Baber as well as former NHL'er Ken Belanger, taking on Soo Sports Excellence. At 10 p.m., the Blueliners Bulls take on McDougall Fuels.
