LSFSC figure skaters score personal best at Thunder Bay Open

Fourteen figure skaters represented the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club at the Thunder Bay Open, Skate Ontario Provincial Series competition this past weekend, March 3-5. The Thunder Bay Provincial Series competition is one of the Skate Ontario Provincial qualifying competitions. Provincial qualifying events include:

• Star 5 - Gold Free Skate;
• Star 7-9 - Short Program;
• Star 5 - Gold Artistic and Pre-Juvenile  - Senior

There were also several non-qualifying events within these categories. Skate Ontario Provincial Championships will be held March 23-25 in Stratford, Ont.

The results were as follows:

• Isabelle Adams: GOLD Star 2 Free Skate, SILVER Star 2 Elements, GOLD Creative Improve 1
• Macy Lachapelle: GOLD Star 3 Free Skate, GOLD Star 3 Elements, GOLD Team Elements Star 3, GOLD Creative Improv 2
• Leah Adams: GOLD Star 3 Free Skate, 4th Star 5 Artistic, GOLD Team Elements Star 3, SILVER Creative Improv 2
• Kaitlyn Carbone: 4th Star 4 U13 Free Skate, 7th Star 4 Elements, GOLD Star 5 Artistic (non-qualifying), SILVER Creative Improv 2
• Isabel Anstice: 6th Star 4 U13 Free Skate, BRONZE Star 4 Elements, 5th Star 5 Artistic, SILVER Creative Improv 2
• Kali Montgomery: SILVER Star 5 U13 Free Skate, GOLD Star 5 Elements, SILVER Star 5 Artistic, GOLD Star 5 Team Elements

• Yvonne Barnes: Gold Pre-Novice Free Skate

“All of the LSFSC figure skaters have had a tremendous season with growth and improvement across the board, a testament to their hard work and dedication. I couldn’t be more proud of each skater’s accomplishments. This weekend many skaters achieved personal best scores, and four LSFSC skaters have secured spots to compete at the upcoming Skate Ontario Provincial Championships”, said Kerry Bain, director of skating and head coach.
