Locals sweep NOSSA basketball championships

On Saturday, local schools claimed both senior and junior division championships in both the AA and AAA categories during the Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association playdowns in the Sault.

In AAA, the Korah Colts claimed the senior division title with a 49-46 win over Sudbury's Lasalle Lancers and will now advance to the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) playdowns.

In junior, the St. Mary's Knights captured the title in an all-local battle with a 53-27 win over the Sir James Dunn Eagles.

In AA, the St.Basil are also headed to OFSAA after taking down the Elliot Lake Atoms 47-30 in the senior division title game. In junior, the Saints made it a sweep with a championship victory 62-45 over North Bay's Chippewa Raiders.
