The Sault Female Hockey Association is celebrating a weekend of great hockey at the 42nd annual Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford.

Three of their Soo Jr Greyhounds Girls Rep teams headed down to compete.

The U11B Hounds came away champions of the U11BB division with a 3-1 victory over the North Halton Twisters.

To say these girls rose to the occasion is an understatement. They showed heart, grit, and determination all weekend. Blake Palahnuk earned the game MVP and Lucy Webb was named Hound Hero in the gold medal game.

The U13BB girls came home with silver medals after their championship against the Huron Heat game ended in a thrilling shootout. Their goaltender Nihlana Neveau was named player of the game in the final.

Neveau gave a standout performance all weekend, including back-to-back shutouts as they defeated the Haldimand Rivercats 5-0 in the quarter-final matchup and then Stoney Creek 4-0 in the semi-finals.

The U15BB Hounds went 4-0 to clinch their spot in the semis where they battled hard, but were ultimately defeated.

All three teams displayed excellent teamwork and represented Sault Ste. Marie well. The Sault Female Hockey Association couldn’t be prouder of our athletes.
