Great Lakes Bus / Hess Jewellers Sault Reps Win It All

It was a six game sweep for the Pee Wee AA’s this weekend at Sault Minor’s Challenge Cup Hockey Tournament.

Winning all 4 games in the round robin put the Sault in 1st place overall heading into the semi finals. They faced off against the Copper Cliffe Redmen on Sunday morning to determine who would prevail and move on to the championship game.

The Reps speed and determination was too much for the Redmen to handle and the Sault advanced with a 5-1 victory. The Green Bay Gamblers earned the right to battle with the Sault Reps in the finals by defeating the Soo Michigan Lakers 4-3.

The final game was fast paced and exciting. The Sault Reps went out in front 3-0 in the first period, but the Gamblers refused to give up and fought back to a 3-3 tie half way through the third. A breakaway goal by the Sault with 5 minutes left in the game recharged the Reps and they went on to score 2 more in a 6-3 victory.
