Local figure skaters compete at Skate Ontario Adult Championships

Two athletes represented the club at the 2023 Skate Ontario Adult Figure Skating competition in Kanata; Jonathan Keuhl won silver and gold, and Shalee Calvert earned seventh and fourth places in their categories

Lake Superior Figure Skating Club adult figure skaters, Dr. Jonathan Keuhl and Shalee Calvert, recently competed at the 2023 Skate Ontario Adult Figure Skating competition in Kanata, Ont., March 3-4.

Keuhl earned silver in Men’s Silver Artistic (Class II & IV) and gold in Silver Men’s Free Skate (Class II and III)

Shalee Calvert earned seventh place in Women’s Elite Artistic (Class I and II) and fourth place in Women’s Gold Free Skate (Class I).

Adult figure skating is growing in popularity, and more and more clubs are offering recreational, test and competitive opportunities to this segment of the population. The Skate Ontario Adult Championships provide opportunities for adult skaters to experience the challenge of competition in a fun and social environment.

The Lake Superior Figure Skating Club board of directors is proud of Keuhl and Calvert, and we are grateful for our talented and dedicated coaches.
