The nominees have been named for the John Marasco Memorial Trophy, which is selected annually by the local referees association.

The award goes to the High School Basketball League senior boys division player who best combines sportsmanship with ability.

The followng are the nominees from each school:

* Bawating - Ryan Lecuyer * Korah - Ben Ginter * St. Basil - Chris Hunt * St. Mary's - Ricky Lamon * Sir James Dunn - Brett Davey * White Pines - Jake Doan

The winner will be announced after the city championship game on Saturday.

*** LITTLE NBA BASKETBALL CAMP: Registration forms are available for all girls and boys in grades 5 through 8. This camp focuses on skill development and fundamentals. League games are included each week. Ten, 2 hour sessions occur on Sundays. The cost is $65. All cheques are payable to Loris Pecile. Draft Day is March 4, but get your registrations in early as the camps fill quickly. Forms are available in the offices at St. Mary's College and St. Basil. *** JUNIOR KNIGHTS SEMI-FINALISTS AT BARRIE TOURNEY:

The St. Mary’s College Junior Knights were semi-finalists in the Barrie Roundball Invitational last weekend.

In the opening game, SMC defeated St. Michael's College from Toronto 44-43. Top scorers for the Knights were Josh Martella with 25 points and Michael Doan with 12.

St. Mary's then beat Pickering's Pineridge 53-40. Martella led with 24 points and Doan added 14 and Trumell Duncan nine. In their final game, the Knights fell 51-39 to Dennis O’Connor from Ajax. Doan poured in 19 points and Martella 13.
