Little Spike program attracts 110 to CASS

Central Algoma Secondary School has started an elementary volleyball development program for grades 5-10. In its first year, the program called “Little Spike” has attracted 110 students from CASS and its family of schools.

Central Algoma Secondary School has started an elementary volleyball development program for grades 5-10.

In its first year, the program called “Little Spike” has attracted 110 students from CASS and its family of schools. The six week program ran from the first week of September to October 10.

The grade 5-7 girls were divided into 4 teams. The teams were the Fire Ants coached by Shelby Bucknell, Sour Lemons coached by Shaylene Kern, Super Chicks coached by Sammy Jo Evoy and the Lemon Limers coached by Amanda Hollingsworth.

The senior girls, grades 8-10, were coached by Stephanie Walker - 1st place, Blair McClelland - 2nd place, Amanda Hollingsworth - 3rd and Sammy Jo Evoy - 4th.

The grade 5-7 boys were divided into four teams. The teams were the Lima Beans coached by Stephen Lajambe, Benchwarmers coached by Corey Myers, Red Volleys coached by Seth Whitley and the Golden Eagles coached by Ethan Campbell.

The grade 8-10 boys were coached by Ryan Hurley - 1st place, Corey Myers - 2nd place, Cole Julien - 3rd place and Colton King - 4th place.

The program was sponsored by CASS Athletics and all the coaches are members of the CASS boys and girls volleyball teams and SAA.
