If you haven't heard about it, or aren't one of the thousands of people already watching it, Islanders TV is here.

What is Islanders TV, you ask?

Islanders TV is the first 24-hour service devoted solely to the New York Islanders.

Islanders TV is available on newyorkislanders.com and launched in September on a test basis.

After two months of great feedback from season ticket holders, the time had come.

On November 4th, Islanders TV went global to anyone with an internet connection.

The reaction, coming from a fan base thirsting for this type of team coverage, was expectedly joyous.

"It is the best thing a hockey fan could ever want," gushed Craig Cowell, an Islanders fan since 1982 now living in Medford, NY.

There are many things that make Islanders TV special.

The first is the access.

Teams are just not in the habit of opening their doors to the media as wide as they do on Islanders TV.

From the front door of a player's home to the locker room door at the Nassau Coliseum, all are open to the Islanders TV cameras.

Because Islanders TV is run in connection with the team, there is unprecedented cooperation from the players and coaching staff.

Training camp in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia was the first chance to see how this relationship would work.

General Manager Garth Snow saw right from the beginning that it was going to work out well.

"The locker-room, as an athlete, is often a safe haven, but our players have been absolutely tremendous in welcoming this whole venture and it's really a great chance for the fans to get an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes," said Snow. "Honestly, it's the first time this has been done in sports."

Teams have had networks devoted to covering them before, but not to this extent.

A quick glance at what Islanders TV is showing turns up dozens of treats on the eyes and ears.

Did you see Ted Nolan speaking on a reservation in Nova Scotia?

If you don't have Islanders TV you didn't.

The event was organized at the last minute when Ted agreed to address the group.

No outside media were there, but Islanders TV was.

Were you on the boat that cruised Yarmouth with the Islanders team aboard during an afternoon break from training camp?

Odds are you weren't, but with Islanders TV you are there.

Were you one of the young students fortunate enough to meet Rick DiPietro and Chris Simon at Pasadena Elementary School in Plainview on Literacy Day in October?

Probably not, but with Islanders TV you get a chance to see some precious moments as the kids get a chance to learn from their heroes how important reading is to a young mind.

Islanders TV adds shows daily to its arsenal of content.

One of the staples of the Internet network is "Islanders Today", a daily look and listen to the Islanders practices at the Coliseum or in Syosset.

Also look for "Long Island Sounds," a show where players and coaches wear a microphone and take you down to ice level for the sights and sounds of Islanders hockey.

In production this winter is a show called "Down the Isle."

This show will introduce you to the Islanders players' wives, and give you an inside glimpse of a player's life at home.
