LEONARD TOPS IN SUPER LATE MODEL

The division races at Laird International Raceway are almost as exciting as the action on the track.

The division races at Laird International Raceway are almost as exciting as the action on the track. After the fifth week of racing on Thursday night, the points standings remain close and no division features a driver that appears to be running away towards a title. If nothings else, fans will be drooling with anticipation of some exciting racing through the summer months. Rick Leonard continues to top the field in the super late model division as Leonard cruised to the win the feature race. Aside from having a small lead in the points standings, Leonard was the leader heading into action by leading 26.82 per cent of all laps at Laird this season. Rob Hiiemaa, who lurks close in third place, won the opening heat while Tim Clement won the second heat.

The Wilson-Sartini battle continues in the super stock class as George Wilson had the last laugh this week with a win in the feature. Rob Sartini and Corey Furkey won the heats.

Parker Brockelbank continued his hot racing by winning the feature and the second heat in the factory stock division. Brockelbank is running neck and neck with Jason Praysner for the points title. Rick Mariotti won heats one and three while John Hayes won the final heat.

Barry Glenn climbed his way up the pure stock points list with a feature win. Norm Miller also had a solid night winning both heat races. When the results are finalized, Corey Diotte will likely have the biggest division lead at Laird as the driver captured the feature race. David Mortimore won the division's only heat race.

Action continues next Thursday night at Laird with action beginning at 7 p.m.
