SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State hockey team failed to hold onto a first-period lead for the second straight night and lost 6-2 to No. 1-ranked Michigan on Saturday at Taffy Abel Arena.

Michigan, which shut down LSSU during the final two periods despite allowing a season-high 10 power plays, extended its nation-leading win streak to 10 games. The Wolverines improved to 11-1-0 overall and 8-0-0 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, while the Lakers fell to 2-7-1 overall and 0-4-0 in the CCHA.

Kevin Porter, who led Michigan with 2-1--3, scored the first goal of the game at 2:58 of the opening period. The Lakers battled back to take a 2-1 lead on impressive goals by Zac MacVoy at 10:44 and John Scrymgeour at 17:35.

MacVoy tipped in Dan Eves' shot to record his first goal of the season. Rick Schofield notched the other assist. Scrymgeour tipped in Jason Blain's shot for his first goal of the season as Pat Aubry drew the other assist.

Michigan fired back with three goals during the first five minutes of the second period. The Wolverines extended their 4-2 lead to 6-2 by tallying an even-strength goal at 7:34 of the third period and scoring on an empty net at 15:59.

LSSU finished 0-for-10 on the power play, while Michigan was 1-for-3. The Lakers outshot U-M, 36-31.

SAULT STE. MARIE - No. 1-ranked Michigan scored five unanswered goals to come back from a 1-0 deficit and beat Lake Superior State 5-1 Friday at Taffy Abel Arena.

Michigan, which is undefeated in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, scored three goals in the second period and two in the third. Kevin Porter led U-M (10-1-0 overall, 7-0-0 CCHA) with two goals and one assist. Aaron Palushaj, Travis Turnbull and Max Pacioretty scored one goal each.
