The Lake Superior State Lakers capped off weekend action with a win on the road on Sunday afternoon.

Playing the second game in a home-and-home series with Adrian College, the Lakers skated to a narrow 2-1 win over the Bulldogs at Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.

Junior forward Ashton Calder scored the eventual game-winning goal in the second period as he took a pass from senior defenceman Lukas Kaelble and broke in alone on Adrian netminder Cam Gray, beating the senior goaltender 5-hole.

The goal came 11 seconds after Calder finished serving a high-sticking minor.

Calder and Kaelble each had a goal and an assist for the Lakers in the win.

Kaelble opened the scored 1:21 into the contest as he beat Gray with a point shot through heavy traffic in close.

Junior forward Rex Moe had the lone goal for Adrian in the game, beating Lake State senior goaltender Mareks Mitens midway through the opening period.

Moe potted a rebound after sophomore Alessio Luciani looked to make a pass into the slot to Moe. It deflected on goal off a Lakers player with the rebound finding the stick of Moe.

Mitens made 15 saves in two periods of work for Lake State before making way for freshman netminder Ethan Langenegger, who stopped all five shots he faced in the third period.

Gray made 20 saves for Adrian in the loss.

Lake State is schedule to host Alabama-Huntsville for a pair of games, beginning next Sunday at 5 p.m. at Taffy Abel Arena.
