Laird points races heating up

Of the four divisions at Laird International Raceway, three have points races that have less than 10 points separating the top two drivers.

Heading into tonights action, which is set for qualifying at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m., the Late Model, Factory Stock, and Stock Four divisions could all see a change in points leaders at the end of the night. The Modified Division points races is also tight at the top. In the Late Model Division Cory Furkey leads the division in points with 210. Rick Leonard trails Furkey by just three points. Rod Bolduc sits in third spot with 189 points after six race nights. Paul Seabrook and Jason Praysner round out the top five with 166 and 112 points respectively.

The Modified Division has Mav MacDonald sitting atop the leaderboard with 201 points. Nick Jobst sits in second with 189 while Rick Ellis has 178 and is third. David Slingsby is just three points behind Ellis with 175 while Nick Kozak and Dennis Uhlman round out the top five with 170 each.

John Hamilton leads the Factory Stock Class with 197 points, holding a seven-point lead over second-place Rita-Ann Varcoe. John Fragale’s 180 points have him settled firmly in third. Mike Hearty is fourth with 156 points. Mark Porpealia and Ed Bordenuik are tied for fifth with 130 points.

With the tightest points race, the Stock Four Division has 22 points separating the top seven drivers. Donny Mergaert leads the way with 182, followed by Brandon Penno’s 178 and John Garner’s 175. Tyler Parsons sits fourth with 167, Jake Irwin sits fifth with 166 while Kyle Jarrett and Dean Wade round out the top seven with 165 and 160 points respectively.
