Kucher captures NGA championship

KUCHER, JR WINS 2005 NGA CHAMPIONSHIP AT CRIMSON RIDGE!

Sault Ste. Marie, ONT (August 8, 2005) -- Frank Kucher, Jr of Sault Ste. Marie birdied the challenging eighteenth hole at Crimson Ridge on Sunday to come out on top at the 2005 NGA Championship.

Kucher, Jr.'s birdie on the final hole propelled him to a one shot victory over Timberwolf's Kevin Phillitow and Espanola's Jim Alexiuk - the 1992 NGA Champion.

The top finisher from Crimson Ridge was Paul Kowalyk who finished tied for fourth with a very respectable two day total of 157.

Kucher, Jr. credited his putter for this weekends victory. "The putter was the key to winning this weekend," stated the defending Sault Golf Club Champion. "Whenever something let me down, my putter got me back up."

Other local top finishers include: Greg McLellan - tied for fourth at 157, Paul Raycroft - tied for ninth at 160 and Caleb Flaxey - tied for tenth at 161.
