Korrie Young off to World Karate Championships

Korrie Young recently competed in the WKA (World Karate Association) and IAKSA (International Amateur Karate Sport Association) Canadian Championships in Hull, Quebec May 26, 2006.

Korrie Young recently competed in the WKA (World Karate Association) and IAKSA (International Amateur Karate Sport Association) Canadian Championships in Hull, Quebec May 26, 2006.

Young competed in the 75 KG weight division in continuous fighting (sparring).

Young achieved his goal in this competition and won first place earning him the right to be called Canadian National Champion in his weight division.

This win also allows him to compete against some of the best amateur athletes in the world of sport karate. Young will be traveling to Benidorm, Spain in November to compete at the World Karate Championships on the Canadian National Karate Team from November 3-12.

Young is a member of Timmermans Martial Arts Club and the Sault Boxing Club here in Sault Ste. Marie.
