The St. Mary's Knights played the role of spoiler on Saturday as they upended the Sir James Dunn Eagles during the Dunn's 50th anniversary celebration.

The Knights scored four touchdowns in the second half to pull away with a 35-8 win in the High School Football League senior division clash at Rocky DiPietro Field.

Jeff Greco scored a pair of touchdowns for the Knights including a two yard run late in the second quarter to pull his team into a 7-7 tie at the half.

In the second half, the Knights took over as quarterback John Mullin hooked up with Greco for a 61 yard catch and run 1:20 in.

Before the quarter expired, Michael Martens returned a punt 63 yards for a score. Mike Esson punched in a four yard touchdown and Ricky Lamon, who also kicked five converts, ran in another from 10 yards out to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter.

A.J. Rivard opened the scoring for the Eagles late in the second quarter on a one yard run while Nick Wegener kicked a convert and a rouge.

Mullin dailed in for 235 yards passing on 12 completions from 25 attempts. Greco caught three passes for 130 yards while also leading the team in rushing with 75 yards on 12 carries. Esson ran for 33 yards on eight carries, caught four passes for 42 yards and completed one pass for 37 yards while Lamon carried five times for 51 yards and Mark DeVuono caught four passes for 63 yards.

Jason Amadio led the Knights defense with 10.5 tackles while Jordan Verdone made 9.5 and Dan Perri 7.5. DeVuono came up with an interception.

For the Eagles, Spencer Milne led the rushing attack that was missing an injured Peter McGonegal with 100 yards on 24 carries. Quarterback J.J. Bergamin completed four of 19 passes for 52 yards.

Defensively, Colby Nadeau led with seven tackles while Navarre Cellini added six and Dave Morano returned a fumble 48 yards.

In the junior division, the Eagles blanked the Knights 21-0. Scoring deails are not yet available.
