Merle’s Garage and Towing set the stage sponsoring a 50 lap Late Model Feature to highlight a full night of racing at the Kinross Speedpark.

Tim Aho took the first checkered flag of the evening winning the 4 car dash in his Late Model. Cecil Piche won the Factory Stock dash. John Clawson ran strong winning the Pure Stock dash and Brandy Clawson won the 4 Cylinder dash.

The first heat of the evening saw the Late Models take to the track. Josh Ware and Tim Aho both slipped by leader Jordan Sims on the last lap to finish first and second.

The field of Factory Stocks stayed side by side for several laps at the beginning of their first heat. Paul Fox broke free from the pack taking the lead and holding on for the win. Cecil Piche finished second and Todd Jackson third.

The Pure Stock field had some loose handling race cars at the front of the field creating some anxious moments. Al Odbert stayed ahead of the mayhem and raced on to the victory. Barry Glenn finished second and Nicole Radar third.

The 4 Cylinder Australian Pursuit saw a late caution creating a two car shootout for the win. Larry Miller held off the only car starting behind him of Erica Pietrangelo to take the victory.

Paul Fox was the first lap leader in the second Factory Stock heat. An unusual sight of three wide racing in this class had some great battles back in the pack. Fox, Cecil Piche, and Todd Jackson turned this heat into a three car race. Piche dove to the inside of Fox going into turn one moving both cars up the track. Todd Jackson drove inside both of these cars and took over first place. Jackson held on for the victory with Piche second and Fox third.

Al Odbert ran another great race in the second Pure Stock heat. He led start to finish to take the checkered flag. John Clawson finished second and Barry Glenn third.

The 4 Cylinders were split up into two heats providing great racing in both races. Larry Miller survived lots of bumping and banging to win the first race. Reese Thompson finished second and Chris Brady third. The second heat had Brandy Clawson hold off a hard charging Tony Rankin for the win. Rankin finished second and Erica Pietrangelo third.

In the 4 Cylinder Feature the drivers proved not only can you run four wide on the first lap, but they could run four wide on lap two also. Brandy Clawson and Larry Miller worked through the pack with Tony Rankin following close behind. The top three put on a great show swapping spots and steering around lap traffic. The finish was close with Brandy Clawson taking the win. Tony Rankin finished second and Larry Miller third.

The Pure Stock feature saw Al Odbert again leading the field around the quarter mile. Barry Glenn and Dan Shumbarger made a quick charge through the pack to contend for the lead. They blew by Odbert to take over the first two spots. This didn’t last long as Shumbarger dropped off the pace and went pit side with an unknown problem. Barry Glenn built an insurmountable lead and took the checkered flag. John Clawson finished second and Larry Young Jr. third.

It was a nice start to the Factory Stock Feature with Paul Fox leading early. A spin involving Pee Wee Fountain and Dean Eggart brought out the yellow flag. Fox led the restart with Cecil Piche and Todd Jackson following close behind. Piche took over the lead in turn three with Jackson following a close second. Piche ran a perfect race the rest of the way to take the win. Jackson finished second and Paul Fox third.

The fifty lap Late Model Feature saw Dennis Aho lead early. Jordan Sims ran the outside line and passed Aho on the backstretch to take over first spot. Josh Ware followed Sims for several laps before moving to the inside in turn two to take over the first spot. Ware was the dominant car weaving in and out of lap traffic without any further challenges to his lead. He coasted to the checkered on the last lap winning by a huge margin. Jordan Sims finished second and Tim Aho third.

The final race of the evening was the Powder Puff race. Tracey Cryderman left her normal spot in the concession trailer to jump into a race car and lead the field for several laps. Go kart racer Lynn Swartzlander hopped into a 4 Cylinder race car and worked her way to the front. She drove around lap cars and the race leader Cryderman, and raced on to the victory. Cryderman finished second and Amy Bertram third.

Racing action resumes again this Friday at Kinross Speedpark. For more information, log onto www.kinrossspeedpark.com.
