Mother Nature was in the Kinross Speedpark area again with a late afternoon rain shower on Friday.

Her visit brought some anxious moments to race officials, racers, and fans. Luckily, she has been one of the tracks biggest fans this year. She brought out sunshine and comfortable temperatures in time for the track to dry and the racing action to start on schedule.

With qualifying rained out, the starting grid in each race was set by the season point standings. This made for some exciting racing action.

The Late Model Four Car Dash had points leader Tim Aho starting at the back and going to the front while winning by about five car lengths. The Factory Stock Dash had Mike Fox leading all the laps in taking the win. The Pure Stock Dash was a great race with Mike Babcock and Ray Golladay Jr. running side by side for much of the race. Ray Golladay Jr. took the win. The 4 Cylinder Dash had Brandy Clawson passing Adam Gardner in the last corner for the victory.

Barry Glenn ran away with the win in the Pure Stock Australian Pursuit and Ron Etcher was very fast while winning the Four Cylinder Pursuit race.

The Late Models had a season high seven cars racing in the nights events. Mark Howland made his season debut and took his first victory of the season in the heat race.

The Factory Stock heat race was won by Cecil Piche. He started on the front row and built a big lead over the rest of the field. Josh Ware was second, and Paul Fox third.

The first Pure Stock heat race had Barry Glenn passing Billy Cryderman on the high side for the lead and the win. Billy Cryderman finished second, and John Clawson third.

The second Pure Stock heat race had Mike Babcock leading many laps. Larry Young Jr. made a last corner pass and took the win. Babcock finished second, and Ray Golladay Jr. finished third.

The first Four Cylinder heat race was won by Ron Etcher. Preston Nightlinger finished second and Moe Syrstad third. The second heat race had John Mayer first, Dean Eggart second, and Brandy Clawson third.

The large crowd on hand enjoyed an autograph session at intermission. Fans could go down in front of the grandstand and meet their favorite drivers. Many drivers passed through the grandstands and met with the crowd. It appeared the fans really enjoyed meeting the drivers.

The feature races got under way with the Late Models taking the track first. Kevin Jackson led many laps before being passed by Tim Aho. Tim Aho took the win. Mark Howland passed Kevin Jackson at the finish line for second place, with Jackson finishing third.

The Factory Stock feature saw Pee Wee Fountain returning to the track after a couple week absence. His sweet ride led for a few laps before Josh Ware took over the lead. Cecil Piche was the eventual winner with Kevin Johnson second, and Josh Ware third.

The Pure Stock feature had many laps of three wide racing. Some drivers tried going four wide into turn one, but this didn't work. Billy Cryderman and Larry Young Jr. got together and a big accident occurred. Ray Golladay Sr. couldn't avoid the mishap and broadsided Larry Young Jr., taking Larry out of the racing action. After a short delay to clean up the wreckage, racing action resumed. John Clawson went to the front and took the victory. Barry Glenn finished second, and Ray Golladay Jr. third.

The Four Cylinder feature started the race with sixteen race cars. There was no shortage of action with several yellow flags. Dean Eggart was the winner with John Mayer and Brandy Clawson finishing second and third respectfully.

Racing action resumes again this Friday at Kinross Speedpark. For more information, log onto www.kinrossspeedpark.com.
