The 2003 season was set to enter week #4 at the Kinross Speedway this past Friday Night but unfortunately mother nature had other plans.

As cars were finishing up hotlap sessions prior to the night's qualifying, the skies opened up and began to wet-down the ¼ mile asphalt oval.

All stock cars were sent pitside and a large number of track officials brought out their own vehicles along with the track blower to begin to dry the racing surface.

Shortly afterwards, drivers would fill the track and assist in getting the Speedway dry. The rain had halted and just as it seemed the track was back to racing condition it started to rain once again.

At 7:15 p.m. track promoters held a drivers meeting down pitside to explain that their racing positions would now be set by season points-to-date should the weather co-operate. It was also decided that in an effort to continue to dry the track and move forward with some of the night's events Kid's rides would take place at this time.

All the stock cars would then make their way out onto the front straightaway to pick up their many young fans and take them for a trip around their home-track!! Following the rides all kids were given a handy gift bag to celebrate the 4th of July festivities courtesy of Mel's Fireworks from Brimely, Michigan. The Kinross Speedway would like to thank Mel's for their very generous donations. They were much appreciated!!

So with Kid's rides complete it was now a waiting game to see if the current drizzle and mist-like conditions would subside and allow the show to go on.

The patience of all our drivers and loyal fans did not go unnoticed as they waited out the lengthy delays hoping racing would be able to get underway and we thank everyone for that.

Unfortunately by the time weather conditions turned adequate to go racing a number of cars had already left the Speedway and that combined with the time required to dry the track and the imposed curfew - track officials were forced to cancel the nights events.

This brings us into the big night of racing scheduled for this Saturday, July 12th!!

This night will see the Speedway finish the 4 remaining heat races and 4 features that were rained out on June 28th prior to starting another complete show of stock car racing. That results in double features in all 4 divisions totaling approximately 200 laps of main event racing. Add on over 100 laps of heat race action, four car dashes and Australian Pursuits and this is sure to be a great night of racing. YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT!

The night is also scheduled to have an Intermission Pit Crew Competition and night-ending Powder Puff Race.

Time trials begin at 4:30 p.m. with racing action to follow at 6 p.m.

Kinross Speedway is located at the Kinross Community Park in Kinross, Michigan. Take exit 378 off I-75 and follow the signs.
