It appeared Mother Nature was sitting in the stands at the Kinross Speedpark Friday night for the third race of the season. With rain and thunderstorms traveling across most areas, Kinross Speedpark sat directly under sunshine and comfortable temperatures, allowing the complete program to run without a hint of precipitation.

The four car dashes opened the show with Denny Aho holding off Tim Aho at the finish line for a win in his Late Model. Factory Stock had Todd Jackson taking the lead on the first lap and finishing with the victory. The Pure Stock dash was won by Larry Young Jr. It was announced in the drivers introductions that Ron Etcher was the new owner of Tony Rankins #17 car, and he drove the 4 cylinder to a win in his first dash driving it.

Both Australian pursuit races had the fastest cars passing everyone in front of them for victories. Randy Miller won in his Pure Stock and John Gardner won with his 4 cylinder.

The heat races were run with lots of exciting racing action. Tim Aho battled Denny Aho for most of the race before pulling away for the Late Model victory. The Factory Stock heat race had Cecil Piche going from the back to the front and taking the checkered flag. Pure Stocks showed John Clawson being very patient in picking his passes while moving through the field for the win in the first heat race. The second heat race had Larry Young Jr. leading most of the laps for the victory. The 4 cylinder heat races were won by Brandy Clawson and John Gardner.

In the Late Model feature Denny Aho built a big lead over Tim Aho early. Tim slowly reeled him in and they both ran door to door for many laps. Denny held on to win by about a car length, with Tim in second, and Kevin Jackson finishing third.

The Factory Stock feature race had Kevin Johnson going to the front early. The black flag was shown to Todd Jackson sending him to the pits for "rough driving." After the restart, Cecil Piche worked his way to the front and built a big lead while driving to the victory. Pul Fox finished second and Kevin Johnson finished third.

The Pure Stock feature had an early spin by Randy Touchtone bringing out the yellow flag. Larry Young Jr. blew a tire in the incident and had to go to the pits for a replacement. Ray Golladay Jr. was very strong and won by a large margin over his father Ray Golladay Sr., who finished second. Larry Young Jr., who restarted at the back of the pack because of his pit stop, moved through the field and finished third.

The 4 Cylinder feature race had several spins and cautions. At the checkered flag, Dean Eggart was far out in the lead with Ron Etcher in second, and John Gardner in third.

A Powder Puff race was held as a special event in the final race of the evening. The race had an exciting finish when Charlotte McKerchie parked the Ray Golladay Sr. Pure Stock car on top of the cement barrier right under the flag stand. Julie Fox was the winner driving the #32 Mike Fox Factory Stock race car.

Racing action resumes again this Friday at Kinross Speedpark. For more information, log onto www.kinrossspeedpark.com.
