Local product and Soo Greyhounds captain Tyler Kennedy scored once to help the OHL Selects to a 5-2 win over the Russian Selects on Thursday night in Kitchener.

Kennedy's game winner in the third period was set up by Greyhound defenseman Kyle Wharton.

Greyhounds' head coach Craig Hartsburg served as the bench boss for the Ontario Hockey League representatives.

Kennedy, Wharton and Hartsburg nearly missed the contest as poor weather conditions delayed their trip to the game along with members of the Sudbury Wolves.

The group didn't arrive at the arena until 15 minutes before game time and the players missed the first half of the opening period while warming up in the dressing room.

Wojtek Wolski of the Brampton Batallion led the OHL with three goals while David Bolland of the London Knights added the other.

Bolland added two assists as did the Kitchener Rangers' Evan McGrath.

The Russian Selects are now 0-3 in the six-game series against the Canadian Hockey League after dropping a pair of contests to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The series continues on Monday in Peterborough beginning at 7 p.m. on Rogers Sportsnet before heading out to the Western Hockey League for games in Regina and Saskatoon.
