The Soo Jr. Greyhounds inched ever so closer to the top of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League standings and the first place North Bay Skyhawks Wednesday with a convincing 11-1 victory over the Espanola Screaming Eagles.

The Jr. Hounds entered Wednesday night's action with a 6-2 record good enough for second overall in the NOJHL, two points behind the front running Skyhawks.

Jeff Rainville led the way for the Jr. Hounds with two goals and two assists. He entered the game averaging just under 3.5 points per game and upped his point total to 21 in just six games. Rainville was named the game's second star.

Rob Cundari got the win in goal for the Jr. Hounds stopping 24 shots.

Next action for the Jr. Hounds is this weekend at Compuware Classic tournament in Plymouth, Michigan.

The Jr. Hounds do not have another home date until Wednesday Oct. 23 when the Blind River Beavers come to town.
