Jr. Greyhounds take two of three on the road

The Jr. Greyhounds face the Sudbury minor midget Wolves and North Bay Trappers in weekend action

The Soo Jr. Greyhounds AAA midget team picked up a pair of Great North Midget League wins over the weekend.

The Jr. Greyhounds were on the road for three games, facing the Sudbury Wolves minor midget club on Friday before playing a pair of games against the North Bay Trappers.

In Friday’s contest, Michael Chaffay scored three times in a 6-2 win over Sudbury.

Ethan Esposito had a goal and an assist while Devin Mauro and Connor Toms also scored.

Ty Zachary set up three goals for the Jr. Greyhounds.

Atley Gringorten and Liam Bridgeman scored for Sudbury.

On Saturday night, Will Rivet scored in overtime to give the Trappers a 2-1 win over the Jr. Greyhounds.

Rivet and Nathaniel Lalonde had a goal and an assist each for North Bay.

Esposito had the lone goal for the Jr. Greyhounds.

Sunday afternoon saw the Jr. Greyhounds rebound with a 4-2 win over the Trappers.

Goals in the third period by Mauro and Dylan Forsyth were the difference.

Chaffay chipped in with a goal and an assist while Zachary, Mateo Perri, and Tyson Doucette assisted on two goals each.

Stephen Pszeniczny had the other Sault goal.

Lalonde and Cameron Pariseau scored for North Bay on Sunday.

The Jr. Greyhounds sit atop the GNML standings after weekend action with a 10-3-1-0 record.

Next league action for the team is Nov. 22 on the road against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves.
