2006-07 Rookie All-Star Teams

Toronto – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the Rookie All-Star Teams for the 2006-07 regular season.

First Team

Centre: Sam Gagner, London Knights

Gagner scored 35 goals and 83 assists for 118 points in 53 games this season and finished the regular season with a plus 32 rating. Gagner finished the season second in rookie scoring and fifth overall in the league. Gagner was named to the Western Conference All-Star team. The 17-year-old native of Oakville, Ontario was a 4th round pick of the Knights in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection and is eligible for this year’s 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Left Wing: Kaspars Daugavins, Toronto St. Michael’s Majors

Daugavins scored 18 goals and 42 assists for 60 points in 61 games this season. The 17- year-old-native of Riga Latvia was a 1st round pick, 3rd overall of the Majors in the 2006 CHL Import Draft and was selected to the Ottawa Senators in the 3rd round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Right Wing: Patrick Kane, London Knights

Kane led all rookies in scoring this season with 62 goals and 83 assists for 145 points in 58 games this season along with a plus 42 rating. Kane was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team. The 18-year-old native of Buffalo, New York was a 5th round pick of the Knights in 2004 and is eligible for this year’s NHL Entry Draft.

Defence: Alex Pietrangelo, Mississauga IceDogs

Pietrangelo scored seven goals and 45 assists for 52 points in 59 games this season and a plus 40 rating. The 17-year-old native of King City, Ontario was a 1st round pick, 3rd overall of the IceDogs in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection and is eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Defence: Michael Del Zotto, Oshawa Generals

Del Zotto scored 10 goals and 47 assists for 57 points in 64 games this season. Del Zotto was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team. The 16-year-old native of Stouffville, Ontario was a 1st round pick, 2nd overall of the Generals in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection and is eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Goaltender: Thomas McCollum, Guelph Storm

McCollum had a 26-18-3-7 record in 55 games this season and posted a 2.39 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. McCollum was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team. The 17-year-old native of Sanborn, New York was a free agent pick up of the Storm.

Second Team

Centre: Steven Stamkos, Sarnia Sting

Stamkos scored 42 goals and 52 assists for 94 points in 63 games this season. Stamkos was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team. The 17-year-old native of Unionville, Ontario was a 1st round pick, 1st overall of the Sting in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection and is eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Left Wing: Jiri Tlusty, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Tlusty scored 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points in 37 games this season. The 19-year-old native of Slany, Czech Republic was a 1st round pick of the Greyhounds in the 2005 CHL Import Draft and was selected to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1st round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Right Wing: Jan Mursak, Saginaw Spirit

Mursak scored 27 goals and 53 assists for 80 points in 62 games this season. The 19-year-old native of Maribor, Slo, Slovenia was a 1st round pick of the Spirit in the 2006 CHL Import Draft and was selected to the Detroit Red Wings in the 6th round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Defence: Zach Bogosian, Peterborough Petes

Bogosian scored seven goals and 26 assists for 33 points in 67 games this season. The 16-year-old native of Massena, New York was a 1st round pick, 19th overall of the Petes in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection and is eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Defence: Yannick Weber, Kitchener Rangers

Weber scored 13 goals and 28 assists for 41 points in 51 games this season. The 18-year-old native of Bern, Switzerland was a 1st round pick by the Rangers in the 2006 CHL Import Draft and is eligible for the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Goalie: Michal Neuvirth, Plymouth Whalers

Neuvirth had a record of 26-8-2-2 record in 41 games this season posting a 2.32 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. The 19-year-old native of Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic was a 1st round pick of the Whalers in the 2006 CHL Import Draft and was selected to the Washington Capitals in the 2nd round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
