Friday was a tough day for Brad Jacobs and his team representing northern Ontario at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina.

The Jacobs rink dropped a pair of games to fall to 8-3 heading into page playoff action on Saturday.

Team Jacobs, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden, lead Ryan Harnden and alternate Tanner Horgan, dropped a 9-3 decision in nine ends Friday night to Alberta’s Brendan Bottcher.

Leading 5-3, Bottcher scored four in the ninth to seal the victory.

Earlier in the day, the Jacobs rink dropped a 5-3 decision to Brad Gushue’s Team Canada.

Gushue credited the Jacobs rink following the win.

“Anytime we play Brad we always have great games,” Gushue told Curling Canada. “I can’t remember the last time we had a really lopsided against him. It always comes down to last rock against him. We knew it would come down to last rock today, and fortunately we had it.”

The win by Gushue clinched a spot in the page playoff 1-2 game for Gushue.

Team Jacobs returns to action on Saturday afternoon against Bottcher in the 3-4 page playoff game.
