Flynn, who was Nolan's assistant with the Soo Greyhounds before taking over as head coach, officially resigned from his post as head coach of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men on Monday.

According to Halifax's The Daily News, Flynn left to pursue other hockey options, which has got the rumour mill going.

Flynn joined Nolan and the Wildcats for their run to the Memorial Cup championship game after receiving a one-year leave of absence from St. FX.
