Indians open season with two at home

Indians open NOJHL season at home The "new" Soo Indians begin the '06-07 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season this weekend with a pair of home games at Big Bear Arena. North Bay is in town on Friday night and Abitibi on Saturday evening with both games beginning at 7 p.m. The Indians return a number of veterans from last season's Northern Michigan Black Bears' franchise led by local defenceman J.D. King, blueliner Sean Reid and forwards James Ciotti, Sean Farley and Issac Viau. But most everything else about the Indians is new from the name to owner Charles Perdicaro to coach Jim Capy. Capy, a six-year veteran of the NOJHL, previously coached the Soo Indians' AAA midgets for eight seasons. Admission to Indians' games this season will be $5. Friday's opener has been billed "alumni night" as all former Indians players will be admitted into the game for free.
