Sweet revenge for Indians on road in Manitoulin LITTLE CURRENT -- Soo Indians avenged an early-season road loss to Manitoulin by cuffing the Islanders 4-1 on Friday night at the Howland Recreation Centre in Little Current. The win boosts the Indians' record within the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to 9-5 and keeps them in contention with Sudbury and North Bay for first place. Sean Farley, with his 12th goal of the season, Chris Cooper, Joe Larson and Canadian Soo product Daniel Vernelli scored for the Indians, who got 24 saves from goalie Elliot Hogue. Hogue now has a 5-4 record to go with a 2.42 goals against average and .926 save percentage. "When we were up 1-0, Elliot made some big saves that kept Manitoulin from tieing it up," noted Indians' coach/general manager Jim Capy. Capy also praised the work of his penalty killers. "Three times, Manitoulin had 5-on-3 power play and our PK unit did a great job," added Capy. The Indians' bench boss called his team's effort "perhaps our most complete of the season." Capy aded that he is encouraged by the progress being made by some of the Indians' rookies. For example, he noted that defenceman Jake Russell has had back-to-back strong outings on the blueline. "Jake has stopped trying to do to much and is minding his own end of the rink which is what we need him to do," Capy said evenly. Next action for the Indians is a pair of home games on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 against Sudbury and the Soo Thunderbirds, 7 p.m. both nights at Big Bear Arena.
