Three game homestand for Soo Indians

Part of a crowded Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in which only four points separates the third and sixth-place teams, the Soo Indians begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday night when they play host to the Blind River Beavers in a 7 p.m. match at Big Bear Arena. The surging Beavers have won four straight games to move into third place in the NOJHL with 29 points, two more than the Indians. But the Indians, with a record of 13-9-1, have played three fewer games than Blind River, which is 13-10-3. Both teams are just slightly ahead of the North Bay Skyhawks and Soo Thunderbirds, who have 25 points apiece. The Indians will play host to North Bay on Friday and Sudbury on Saturday with both games 7 p.m. starts at Big Bear Arena. Veteran Sean Farley continues to lead the Indians in scoring with 15-7-22 totals followed by Nick Zilka at 8-11-19 and Joe Larson at 8-10-18. Defensively, the Indians have the best goals-against-average in the NOJHL with Elliott Hogue and Brennan Poderzay between the pipes. The Indians' defence features veteran J.D. King, a Michigan Soo product, and rookies Nick Novak, Jake Russell and Austin Brown.
