Today, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of their 2007 Draft picks Ian Hazlett (Linebacker), Greg Hetherington (Slotback), 2006 Draft Pick Gerald Commissiong (Running Back) along with Shawn White (Receiver) and Steven Wilson (Linebacker).

“We expect all five of these young Canadian athletes to bring versatility and enthusiasm,” said General Manager Jim Barker. “They all bring forward a different skill set and we look forward to them competing in training camp.”

Hazlett was drafted by the Stampeders in the 5th round (38th overall) of the 2007 Canadian College Draft. As a Linebacker from Queen’s last season Hazlett started at outside linebacker in the first three games of the season but injured his knee midway through the Homecoming game against Windsor. In just three games, Ian made 13 solo tackles and his leadership was sorely missed the rest of the season. In 2005, Ian started all eight games. At middle linebacker, Ian was Queen's lone OUA First Team All-Star of 2005. He led the OUA with 48 solo tackles, and ranked first in the OUA and third in the country with 61.0 total tackles.
