Oshawa Generals General Manager Brad Selwood made the trip to North Bay to watch the Central Region Midget AAA Championships. He was looking forward to watching the Sault Ste. Marie North Stars in action.

“They’ve got a handful of 90’s and somewhat are up playing at a higher level like the midget AAA’s they bring it and they bring it to another level so as they say, and I’m anxious to see them,” said Oshawa Generals G.M. Brad Selwood about the talented young Stars during the tournament.

He obviously did like what he saw as the Oshawa Generals selected high scoring forward Dean Howard with their second choice, 22nd overall in today's OHL Draft.

The Howard family had been in contact with the Generals for the past couple of months so it really came as no surprise that he was chosen by the Oshawa franchise.

“I’m jacked for sure looks like a great organization and it should be a lot fun,” Howard said.

"It would have been good to go in the first round but I'm not worried about that, 22nd overall is okay with me."

Howard had a solid rookie season with the North Stars, finishing fourth in league scoring with 21 goals and 31 assists in 34 games with the Great North Midget League Champs.
