The Soo Greyhounds began their second longest homestand of the season on Wednesday night with a solid 7-2 victory over the Sarnia Sting.

The Hounds outhustled, outworked and outskated the Sting while riding a solid goaltending performance from Kyle Gajewski.

In front of 4,399 fans at the Steelback Centre, rookie Michael Fine paced the Hounds offense with his first two Ontario Hockey League goals.

Sarnia opened the scoring as top NHL prospect Steven Stamkos tipped a shot past Gajewski midway through the first period.

The flood gates opened less than a minute later as the Greyhounds responded with three goals in a span of 41 seconds.

Andrew Campbell scored his first of the year, Josh Moes followed with his first by tipping in a Dylan King point shot while Fine also tipped in a King shot for a 3-1 lead.

Gajewski kept the Sting in check in the second period and made several key saves on Sarnia's snipers, allowing only a power play goal to Justin DiBenedetto.

James Livingston, Josh Godfrey on a five-on-three power play, Fine and Dustin Jeffrey on the power play rounded out the Hounds scoring.

King finished with two assists as did Jacob Lalonde. Livingston, Jeffrey and Godfrey set up a goal each for muti-point games.

Gajewski kicked aside 27 of 29 shots while the Hounds fired 33 shots at Sting goaltender Tomi Karhunen.

The Hounds have now collected 17 of a possible 18 points this season and lead the OHL's overall standings by four points over the Windsor Spitfires, who hold two games in hand and have also yet to lose in regulation time.

The Greyhounds' five-game homestand continues on Friday as the Saginaw Spirit visit the Steelback Centre in a 7:30 p.m. start.
