The Soo Greyhounds were back in the Nickel City on Tuesday night two weeks after having a game canceled there due to poor ice.

The ice wasn’t an issue on Tuesday night as the Greyhounds skated to a 5-2 victory over the Sudbury Wolves. The Greyhounds fell behind 2-0 after an early second period goal by John Kurtz of the Wolves. Shortly after Kurtz made it 2-0 Matt Lyall and Chris MacKinnon scored 35 seconds apart to tie the game. An Arron Alphonso goal midway through the period then gave the Greyhounds a lead they would never relinquish.

Dustin Jeffrey scored a power play goal and Brandon MacLean scored shorthanded in the third period to seal the victory for the Greyhounds.

Jeffrey and MacKinnon each finished the night with a goal and two assists while Alphonso had a two point night for the Greyhounds, chipping in with an assist as well.

The Greyhounds finished the three-for-seven on the power play while the Wolves went scoreless on four power plays.

Greyhounds netminder Kyle Gajewski stopped 17 shots in the victory. Wolves goaltender Michael Swick was busier, stopping 28 shots.

Next action for the Greyhounds is Friday afternoon when they travel to Plymouth to take on the Whalers in an afternoon game. The following night they head to Sarnia to take on the Sting in a 7:35 p.m. start.
