The Soo Greyhounds are putting away the Sarnia Sting one game at a time.

On Friday night in Sarnia, the Greyhounds scored a 3-2 shootout victory with Dustin Jeffrey emerging with the game winner.

Elsewhere on Friday, London blanked Guelph 3-0 and Kitchener edged Saginaw 5-4.

With the reseults, the Greyhounds move six points up on the Sting, who have a game in hand, and five points up on Guelph, who have two games in hand, for fifth spot in the western conference.

The Hounds held a 2-0 lead in the first period as Chris MacKinnon notched his fifth of the season and Josh Godfrey his 24th, both on the power play.

Sarnia managed to cut the lead in half before the period was out as Tomas Pospisil potted a power play marker with less than a minute to play.

Early in the second period, Brandon Mashinter scored another power play goal to tie the game for the Sting.

The teams were then held scoreless for 43:14 until the shootout where Cody Thornton and Jeffrey scored for the Greyhounds.

Greyhound goaltender Kyle Gajewski stopped 30 of 32 shots for the win while Parker VanBuskirk took the loss for the Sting facing 35 shots.

The Hounds conclude their two-game road trip, the final one of the regular season, on Sunday afternoon in Plymouth before returning home for their last two regular season games at the Steelback Centre against Plymouth and Sarnia next weekend.
