It was a chance for the Soo Greyhounds to get re-aquainted with a pair of old teammates, but it wasn't meant to be.

Wednesday night's Greyhound game against the Sarnia Sting was cancelled after the Sting were unable to make it to the rink due to weather conditions.

In making the trip to Sault Ste. Marie, the Sting were stopped at the Mackinac Bridge after strong winds forced authorities to only allow passenger cars, passenger vans, and pick-up trucks without campers to cross.

All other vehicles were lined up at the bridge and the Sting bus was in a lengthy lineup after arriving at the bridge at roughly 3:30 p.m.

Sustained winds were in excess of 50 m.p.h. causing extensive delays in travel time across the bridge. Vehicles had very limited access to the bridge and were under strict guidelines when crossing.

The game would have been the first against the Greyhounds for former Hounds Tyson Aitcheson and Ryan McInerney.

McInerney caused some controversy after leaving the team and saying that he had given up on hockey. In three games with the Sting heading into Wednesday night's tilt, McInerney had a pair of goals and an assist.

The game would also mark the first meeting with the Sting for former members Scott Restoule and local product Trevor Solomon.

The game has tentatively been rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and further details will be announced on Thursday regarding the official date as well as ticket information.
