Hounds pick German forward during import draft

************************* Hounds select Fischabber in CHL import draft

With the 56th overall selection in today’s CHL import draft, the Soo Greyhounds selected centreman/winger Simon Fischhaber from the German Deutsche Nachwuchsliga league.

(The 56th pick was acquired earlier in the day from the Plymouth Whalers for the standard “waiver fee.”)

A native of Greiling Germany, Fischhaber stands 6’1” tall and weights 180 lbs.

While playing this past season with EC Bad Tőlz, Simon grabbed 26 goals and 14 assists (40 points) in 36 regular season games played before grabbing three points in two post-season games.

In international competition, Simon was a member of Germany’s U-18 entry at the IIHF World Championship in Finland.

As the youngest German player in the tournament, Fischhaber had two points in six games played.

The Hounds will now pass and not make a selection with their 2nd round pick (73rd overall).
