The Soo Greyhounds opened a big three-game road trip with a win over the Sarnia Sting on Thursday night. Holding a four goal lead heading into the third period, the Greyhounds gave up three tallies but held on for a 6-5 victory.

The Soo Greyhounds opened a big three-game road trip with a win over the Sarnia Sting on Thursday night.

Holding a four goal lead heading into the third period, the Greyhounds gave up three tallies but held on for a 6-5 victory.

Six different Greyhounds found the back of the net while David Kuchejda, the game's first star, assisted four times.

Andrew Desjardins, Jiri Tlusty and Tyler Cuthbert scored to give the Hounds a 3-0 first period lead.

Josh Godfrey's 20th goal of the year on the power play put the Hounds ahead 4-0 early in the second period. Dustin Jeffrey and Brandon MacLean added goals before the period was out to give the Greyhounds a 6-2 lead heading to the third.

Thomas Pospisil, Craig Voakes, Ryan Wilson and Steven Stamkos replied with goals for the Sting.

MacLean's and Desjardins' goals were their 10th of the season while each picked up an assist. Jeffrey, Tlusty and Cuthbert also added an assist each.

Kyle Gajewski stopped 36 of 41 shots for the win while Sarnia faced 31 Greyhound shots.

The Greyhounds continue their trip on Saturday night in Plymouth and Sunday night in London.
