The Soo Greyhounds are licking their wounds after returning to town on Sunday night with nothing to show for a three-game Ontario Hockey League road trip.

After beating two very good teams and entering the road swing on a two-game winning streak, the Hounds dropped all three games and remain in last place in the western conference.

On Sunday afternoon in Saginaw, the Hounds received two goals from David Kuchejda but it wasn't enough to hold off the Spirit, who skated to a 7-4 victory.

The Hounds opened the road trip with a 2-1 loss in Windsor on Thursday night before falling to the London Knights 4-1 on Friday.

Kuchejda scored on the power play just 2:39 into the game for an early lead but the Spirit roared back to take the lead for good by the end of the first period.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the second period, Tyler Kennedy scored 1:50 into the frame and Kuchejda added another on the power play two minutes later to restore the Hounds one goal lead.

But the Spirit rallied again with three goals, including two on the power play, in a span of 4:13 to take a 5-3 lead into the final period.

Scott Restoule rounded the scoring for the Greyhounds while Kennedy also picked up an assist.

Jack Combs scored two goals for the Spirit while singles went to Garrett Sinfield, Patrick McNeill, Joe McCann, Michal Birner and Tom Pyatt. Sault product Zack Torquato, Sinfield and McCann each recorded a pair of assists.

Matt Hache started the game in goal for the Hounds but was pulled in favour of Kyle Gajewski after the fifth Saginaw goal.

The Greyhounds begin a homestand on Wednesday night at Memorial Gardens in a return match with the Spirit at 7 p.m.
