The Soo Greyhounds hit the ice in Brampton on Sunday afternoon just 16 hours after taking care of business in Erie.

The Battalion pounced on the weary Hounds and skated to a 4-1 victory.

Despite the loss, the Greyhounds are returning home from a three-game road trip with a pair of impressive victories to show for. On Thursday, the Hounds nipped Niagara 4-2 and then pasted Erie 6-1 on Saturday night.

The Hounds now visit Saginaw on Thursday before hosting Oshawa on Saturday and Guelph on Sunday at the Steelback Centre.

Matt Caria's 10th goal of the season was the lone marker for the Greyhounds against the Battalion.

Luke Lynes, Graham McNabb, Cody Hodgson and John Hughes scored for Brampton, who led 1-0 after one period and 2-1 after two.

Kyle Gajewski took the loss in goal facing 30 shots while Brampton's Patrick Killeen saw 28 Greyhound shots.

The Soo's lead in the Ontario Hockey League's west division shrinks to five points over the Windsor Spitfires, who spanked the Plymouth Whalers 10-2 on Sunday. Windsor scored seven first period goals.

Meanwhile, the Kitchener Rangers, who hold a 13-point lead over the Hounds for the western conference lead, surrendered five first period goals and fell 9-3 to the London Knights.
