Hounds fall to Barrie

The Soo Greyhounds stumbled to begin a three-game Ontario Hockey League road trip on Thursday night. Hunter Tremblay scored once and set up another while goaltender Dan LaCosta stopped 30 shots to lead the Barrie Colts to a 4-1 win over the Hounds.

The Soo Greyhounds stumbled to begin a three-game Ontario Hockey League road trip on Thursday night.

Hunter Tremblay scored once and set up another while goaltender Dan LaCosta stopped 30 shots to lead the Barrie Colts to a 4-1 win over the Hounds.

The loss drops the Hounds record to 21-26-3-3 for 48 points. The locals remain eight points up on the Erie Otters for eighth place in the western conference but fall four points behind Windsor, who defeated the Plymouth Whalers on Thursday.

Travis Fuller, Jordan Grant and Bryan Little also scored for the Colts, who lead by scores of 2-0 after one period and 4-0 after two.

Matthew Lyall scored the lone Greyhound goal on the power play with just 25 seconds remaining in the period.

Kyle Gajewski started in goal for the Greyhounds but was pulled after Grant's goal 1:18 into the second period. Matt Spezza then entered the cage in his first appearance of the season for the Soo. Gajewski allowed three goals on four shots while Spezza kicked aside 19 of 20 shots.

The Greyhounds continue their road swing on Saturday in Owen Sound at 7:30 p.m. before stopping in Brampton on Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest.
