HOUNDS TRIM ROSTER TO TWENTY-FOUR

After four days of intense off and on-ice activities the 2006 edition of Soo Greyhounds training camp came to a conclusion with their Annual Red and White Game earlier tonight.

Following the game, team management and coaches released a list of 24 players that remain on the clubs roster. Included in that group are 19 players with OHL experience.

Goalies Kyle Gajewski and Matt Hache are joined by defencemen Josh Godfrey, Brad Good, Michael Quesnele, Andrew Campbell, Jacob Muzzin, Trevor Solomon, Tyler Cuthbert and Brett Halstead.

Up front team captain Cody Thornton will lead a group that includes returnees Brandon MacLean, Dustin Jeffrey, Andrew Desjardins, Matt Lyall, Payton Liske, Josh Moes, David Kuchejda and Jacob Lalonde. They will be joined by 2005 draftees Chris MacKinnon (7th Round), Anthony Perdicaro (8th Round) and Grant McGee (4th Round) along with the top two picks in the 2006 draft, James Livingston (1st Round) and Sean Jones (2nd Round).

In addition the Hounds announced they have re-assigned 5 players to clubs in the Northern Ontario Junior A League. Dylan King, Brett Perlini, Tyler Gendron and Brad DiCandia will suit up with the Hounds affiliate franchise, the Soo Thunderbirds while Jacob Chiblow will skate the upcoming season with the Blind River Beavers.

Also of note, goalie Max Paluszynski is considering an offer from the Soo Indians Jr. A Hockey Club while Mike Rivard is expected to re-join the Soo North Stars AAA Midgets.

The Hounds will get their first taste of OHL exhibition hockey this coming Thursday night, September 7th when they travel to Sudbury to take on the Wolves.

The locals will play their first home game on Sunday, September 10th when they host the Saginaw Spirit at the John Rhodes Rink #2. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
