The Soo Greyhounds scratched and clawed their way back for a win that had a major impact on playoff positions.

After falling behind 2-0, the Hounds rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Sarnia Sting on Wednesday night at the Steelback Centre.

Ryan Wilson's power play goal just 1:09 into the game gave the Sting an early lead.

The Greyhounds had several quality chances to score in the opening period but Sarnia goaltender Parker Van Buskirk made several huge saves to keep the homeside off the scoreboard.

Sarnia struck quick to open the second period as Tomas Pospisil beat Hounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski just 49 seconds into the frame.

But the Greyhounds rebounded less than a minute later as Matt Lyall's shot from the right circle fooled Van Buskrk to cut the lead in half.

In the third period, Brad Good stepped into a shot off the draw and his first goal of the year tied the score with 9:24 remaining.

With 1:33 left in regulation time, Andrew Desjardins jammed a puck into the net after a scramble around the Sarnia goal and after a lengthy video review, the goal counted giving the Hounds the win.

The Greyhounds outshot the Sting 36-20.

The victory pads the Greyhound lead over the Sting to five points and to three points over the Guelph Storm, although the Storm have played two fewer games.

With four games remaining, the Hounds now head out on the road for their final road trip of the regular season. On Friday night, the Hounds have a rematch with the Sting before travelling to Plymouth for a Sunday afternoon contest.
